NTPC Green Energy Limited, representing Indian Oil NTPC Green Energy Limited (INGEL), has recently unveiled a request for proposals, inviting bids for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of 200 MW capacity inter-state transmission system connected solar projects.

Project Scope and Guidelines

As per the tender guidelines, the selected EPC contractor will be responsible for the entire spectrum of the project, encompassing the engineering, procurement, and construction activities. This includes the operation and maintenance of the solar projects, covering the switchyard and power evacuation system up to the interconnected grid substation. The contractual obligations extend to providing consumables and spare parts for a duration of three years from the commissioning date. Moreover, the EPC contractor is mandated to identify, obtain, and facilitate the transfer of land ownership or lease in favor of INGEL. The bid submission deadline for interested parties is set for February 22, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria for Bidders

Potential bidders are required to demonstrate prior experience in developing, designing, constructing, commissioning, or overseeing activities for a grid-connected solar power project with a cumulative capacity of 40 MW or more. Additionally, at least one of these projects should have boasted a capacity of 10 MW or higher, and the reference project must have been operational for a minimum of six months preceding the bid opening date.

Alternatively, bidders must showcase successful execution of an industrial project in sectors such as power, steel, oil and gas, petrochemical, fertilizer, cement, coal mining, coal handling plant, or any other process industry, with a minimum cost of Rs 2.4 billion. Furthermore, the bidders are required to have completed at least one electrical substation with a voltage of 33 kV or higher, either as a developer or an EPC contractor, and this substation should have been operational for at least the past year.

Recent NTPC Green Energy Endeavors

In a parallel development in January 2024, NTPC Limited, representing NTPC-SAIL Power Company, initiated a tender process for the establishment of a 15 MW floating solar project at Maroda reservoir-1 of NSPCL in Bhilai, Chattisgarh.

The issuance of this EPC tender underscores NTPC Green Energy’s commitment to expanding India’s solar power capacity and fostering sustainable energy solutions. As the nation continues its push towards clean and renewable energy, these initiatives contribute significantly to the broader goal of achieving a greener and more energy-efficient future.
